Can I attend class with my child?

Our classes are designed to encourage independence, creativity, and confidence. For that reason, parents and guardians are not permitted to attend or observe regular classes. We invite families to attend end-of-session presentations when available.

All GNAC instructors are experienced arts educators and working professionals in theatre, music, and performance. Will it be the same teacher each session?

We do our best to maintain consistency with instructors. However, teacher assignments may vary between sessions due to scheduling, production, or artistic needs. Any changes will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

Are bursaries/scholarships available?

Yes! The GNAC Bursary Fund offers full scholarships for youth from families in financial need. Thanks to our generous donors, we’re able to make the performing arts more accessible to everyone in our community. Applications are accepted year-round, and recipients are selected one week prior to each new session.

Do you have a waitlist if a class is sold out?

Yes. If a class is full, you may reach out to us at info@greaternationarts.ca to add your name to the waitlist. Should a spot become available,  prospective students will be contacted in the order they joined the list.

Are there any make-up classes or will I be provided a refund for a missed class?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds or make-up classes for individual absences. In the event GNAC must cancel a class due to weather or instructor illness, we will make every effort to reschedule.

Can I still enrol if the session has already begun?

Late registrations may be accepted if space permits and the instructor agrees that the student can successfully integrate into the class. Please contact us directly to discuss availability, as it varies class to class.

Can I register even though I do not have any experience in the performing arts?

Absolutely! Our classes are open to all experience levels. GNAC programs are designed to build confidence, skills, and creativity—whether you or your child is brand new to theatre or already passionate about performing.

Can I register my child in a class outside of their age range?

Accepted Answer

Age guidelines are in place to ensure the best learning experience for everyone. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the instructor or program director, depending on experience and maturity level.

Are headphones allowed to be worn during class?

Accepted Answer

Headphones and personal electronic devices are not permitted during class time unless required for accessibility. Students are encouraged to stay fully present and engaged in group activities.
We understand that some students may have a sensory disability that may increase their sensitivity to sounds and noise. We would ask that you have a conversation with the teacher about how best to support your child, which may include using headphones in certain situations.

Can I come to class if I’m sick?

For the health and safety of everyone, please stay home if you or your child are feeling unwell. If possible, contact GNAC to inform us of the absence. We’ll do our best to help students stay up to date on what they missed.

What should we bring to class?

It depends on the class and your instructor will fill you in on the first week. It is always recommended to bring a water bottle and any class materials you’ve been given. For dance and theatre classes, please wear non-restrictive and comfortable clothing, including shoes that you can safely move in. In the winter months, please bring indoor footwear.

Are there options if my child can't attend all 3 weeks?

Certainly! We can try to accommodate your child depending on their schedule. Although we will require a certain level of commitment. If your child can only attend one week, or only the mornings, or a couple times per week, they can still participate.

Although your child won't be able to be Ariel or Sebastien, they can perform in the ensemble, or work on building and painting set and props! Please get in touch with us to discuss the options for registering your child.

How are roles given out?

On the first morning of camp, participants will be asked to do a short audition. We ask that they prepare a song in advance, and they will be given a short monologue or script to read. This gives us an idea what what role would best suit them. 
Remember- there are no small roles!

Due to my work schedule, I can't pick-up my child before 5:30. What are the options?

We staff are guaranteed to be there until 4:30pm, and with advance notice, we can certainly accommodate a 5:30pm pick-up (may be subject to an additional fee). Please let us know what you require so we can schedule staff accordingly.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our camp cancellation policy is:

-All refunds will be subject to a $50 administrative fee
-Full refunds will be given if the camp is cancelled by GNAC
-Cancellations made before June 1 will be fully refunded (less the $50 administration fee)
-Cancellations made between June 1-June 20th will result in a 50% refund.
-Cancellations made after June 20th will not be refunded.
-No refunds will be issued if a participant fails to attend any days of the camp

Why is this camp an entire three weeks?

In this camp we will be rehearsing an entire show, so that the kids get an opportunity to experience performing in a fully staged production. This involves learning and memorizing blocking, music, choreography and scene dialogue, as well as building costumes, sets, and props. Creating a polished performance takes time and we want the kids to be proud of putting on a professional looking performance for family and friends!
